Last week worked full time-48 hours-did not pay but 40(we are told never work over 40)For 12 weeksI had run the front office with a coworker that had put in a 5- week notice, and typed resume and cover letters for 4 weeks prior--will admit she did as little as possible--new employee hired -Doctor and nurse/fiance went on spring break left me to train and then failed to cancell-2 days of patients.  I was left with -27-signed prescriptions and saw patients making notes in chart writting out medications from previous month(18 of these prescriptions were for C2 Schedule narcotics(did I mention I am only a front office assitant with 30 years of business medical but no hands on related experience.  After being left for those 7 days to catch up work-train-see patients-work in storage organizing archived charts) I had let my workers comp filing, medicaid filing, prior authorizations, medical records, posting of accts/rec--Mediciad remit posted-also fill workers compensation medicaitons there in office) When I arrived Monday April 30th was told by nurse/fiance/types 2- disability letters a day-I was going to be doing only Medical Records(strange)then when Office Manager arrived(Doctors mother)called into break room and went to screaming,banging fist on table that my work was behind , etc. patients compalining that I was stressed out--wrote me up on this subject put me on part-time basis 2pm til 6pm Monthru Wed, 2 pm til 5pm on Thgursdays, and off every other Friday--I have all work caught up along with other new coworkers duties not being done)I was offered another part-time job and would work with me on hours due to my current job--Requested from office manager to be able to work <Mon-Wed> possibly 12pm til 6pm giving me 18 hours and then Thursdays and Fridays always varied anyway, was asked to type letter on what I was requesting---clearly spelled out that I was just asking that the other job would work around my current job, told her was not really sure of hours and if definetly hired or not just wanted to prepare myself so that I could get in 40 hours with the two jobs. The following day I was told that they could not do that I was like "okay I will work something else out" was then told NO they really did not need me except on call in basis (onlyif called) asked if I was being fired or laid off, told me just letting me know they could not give me any hours--Whomever may have read this please give me some feed back--oh and also I was given -10-days vacation on Jan1, 2012 based on work year 2011 was told I would not get any of that due to I was now a part time employee--Just felt like getting this off my chest this is what people we work our butts off for, cover for them and mae them plenty of money and for some reason (a few weeks of being abandoned by everyone to run the office)I was the one to suffer and loose my job--ALL COMMENTS WELCOME-Can I draw UB

If it was because you just didn't want another discharge on your record .. that will not work. You need to focus on a reason "attributable to the work". You need to focus on the fact that the employer said: "I think it's best we part ways". This essentially makes the employer the moving party and could be consider a quit in lieu of discharge.

Even though you gave notice and the employer was so savvy as to let you do this .. when you file for unemployment it's important you make the state understand this. This will allow them to see it for what it really was .. a discharge.
