Generally dependents are considered as  the person who relies on you for their support.

  • Qualifying Child &
  • Qualifying Relative

A child must be  your child, step child, adopted child, foster child, brother or sister, or a descendant of one of these (for example, a grandchild or nephew).

He/ she should be under age 19 at the end of the year, or under age 24 and a be a full-time student for at least five months out of the year, or any age and totally and permanently disabled.

Qualifying Relative

He/ She should be as a member of your household, and the relationship between you and the dependent should not violate local law.

If you claim dependents, You will get additional benefits per qualifying depended

Unmarried children up to age twenty-six.

A non working dependent wife or husband are considered as dependents

When you claim a dependnet on unemp form, you will get additional benefits per dependent.
