My former employer wanted to change my job description. They gave me and my coworkers a memo detailing the changes and asked us to sign and agree to the changes.
I refused to sign the memo and refused to accept the changes.
By mutual agreement I was terminated.
When I filed for unemployment my employer denied the claim for reasons of misconduct. I appealed and argued that simply refusing to sign and not agreeing to the changes did not constitute misconduct in itself. They could fire me for not agreeing but could not deny my benefits in that not signing did not wrong them.
My appeal was denied.
I contend that when the changes were written on paper to be signed, they became an employment contract. I feel that I am being denied benefits because I refused to sign a contract.
Do I have a case I can appeal to the Board of Review ?
