I work full time at a job that takes out taxes from my check. However, for years, I've had my own part time counseling business. I did this service in order to compensate for the expenses or bills my other job  did not. It is sole proprietorship. Recently, the state told me I cannot work the counseling business until I reapply under the new rules and they approve my application. I expect to be without this income for 30 to 90 days. This significantly reduces my hours that I need to work and is causing financial hardship. Forclosure on my house has been served due to lack of income from that business. Would I be eligible for unemployment? No taxes are taken out until income tax preparation for this business.

Self employed are usually not eligible for UI benefits. I can understand your situation.

Please contact the labor department in your state to see if they have any other provisions for self employed who are not earning an income.
