I work part time in New York for Brooklyn College and get paid during the semester for the hours I teach. I took the full-time position with Nevada Opera in Reno, Nevada and established an additional residence there. The Nevada Opera paid me $60,000 a year and I make anywhere from $16,000 to $20,000 at Brooklyn College.

I must remain present in both cities as I am my mother's legal guardian and power of attorney. Since Nevada Opera has no money to pay me, will I be able to collect unemployment in Nevada for that wage until I can get a new job in my field?

Since your primary job is at stake, you can consider applying for UI benefits provided you separate with the employer on mutually agreed terms.

If and when you decide to file, please be transparent on the income received from part time employment.
