  1. Hello, I don’t know if anyone is actively responding to this, I have tried to fill out the Unemployment form online but it says that I have to call in. Yet when I call the numbers provided all I get is a busy signal for about 10 seconds and then it hangs up me automatically. As I was laid off due to Convid 19 and the brick and mortar buildings are closed, who am I supposed to contact to get this resolved? Is there a different number that the one listed above?

    • If you have not been paid or figured out there ploy to stand on you without any payment being made. Get ready. They have non payment down to a science.. they love it when you beg and plead. I think managers are giving bonuses to most creative new ways to convince the poor sap, he or she,s completely at fault and that is why nothing is owed to them. Lose house. Your problem . Child removed . Bad parenting. Suicide. They encourage it just like a C,O,
My advice is to run away from this place . You are not worthy of this high and mighty establishment. Even a virus don’t stop this bunch

    • I have the same problem since March. No one answer and all unemployment office are closed. If you found a solution please share.

      • Paulo,

Please try finding answers online since there might be limited phone support due to the shortage of staffing. You can use the “Resources” or “FAQs” section of the website.

    • Kyle,

We understand this might be a difficult time for you. We’re anticipating a shortage of staff across unemployment offices due to the massive surge in UI applications considering the pandemic. We advise against calling or visiting the office, as you may not get a response instantly.

Your state may have activated “Extended Benefits (EB)” authorized by the federal government. We recommend you apply for UI benefits online. For more information, please visit your state’s official Unemployment website.

      • It’s been 15 months since I have received a check. Two denials. One massive clerical error. And egregious mistakes by adjudication has left my car repossessed and in week ill be homeless. I won my appeal first week of November. Im out of patience. Pay Me I am owed over 18 thousand dollars

        • Andy,

I can perhaps try and understand your pain. Please continue following up with the adjudicator until there’s a concrete update on the payment status.

  2. How come with 600,000 thousand people in Milwaukee, why don’t we have an unemployment office in our city.

    • Arthur,

Unemployment Offices generally function as back offices and are administered through phone or online channel. There should be an office in your city. Please call the Claims Center for more.

  3. Where do I get a statement for unemployment benefits received in 2018?

I need to include them on my taxes, correct?

    • Margie,

You need a From 1099-G. That is correct. It should be reported as income. Please login to your account on the department’s website to access this form. For additional info, please call the Claims Center.

  4. My benefit year started 1/21/18 and ends on 1/19/19 however, my remaining benefit amount is exhausted do I have to wait until 1/19/19 to file for benefits again? Is there an extension I can file to continue benefits now? can I start a new claim?

    • Jennifer,

The E.U.C(Emergency Unemployment Compensation) remains expired. There is no extension available. Please inquire further with the labor authorities in your state by calling them.

  5. If I choose to terminate employment under a voluntary separation plan, where I get a lump sum severance payment, can I collect unemployment after I receive my last paycheck?

  6. I quit my job to harrassement and disrespect from supervisor. Reported to GM and was told if I said I would find another job else where if it continued. She stated that If I was threatening her the next time I reported it I
could find my way out of the job. Finally I walked into my job on November 26th and the supervisor started in again PMS was a nightmare with several things changed and no updates forwarded to me at all. I had to find things out on my own

    • Sandra,

Please consider claiming UI benefits since you quit under hostile working conditions. Make sure to keep supporting documents handy in case of a dispute.

  7. I live in a very rural area, there are only 7 jobs listed in the newspaper this week, how am I supposed to apply to four different employers that are actively seeking employees every week, (most of the jobs in the paper are for work I cannot do!)

  8. I clicked on submit to get my claim number at 1145 and it said i have 0 minutes left to file and booted me out. i was filing for 2 wks ago not previous wk and i midnight was the final time to submit. I tried calling repeatedly and it kept booting me from holding. The recording said we are experiencing unusual call volume and they are unable to place me on hold at this time, please call back. This repeated until the office was closed. I received a “PROTOTYPE — UNDER CONSTRUCTION — PROTOTYPE” message on my screen and it said the filing closed at 1145. When i checked the hours to file online it said midnight on Sundays. Now will I not be eligible for that wk?? How can they change the hours on the filing system but post that it is midnight?

    • Me too!!! They are saying I took to long when they shut the portal off for almost two years!!! They lied and now I have 6 appeals I have to do. Not one. 6!!!! Like they think I’ll give up now???? I’ve been all the way to The Labor Board and Review and won!!!!! Give me my money!!!

    • Shelley,

I hope its all sorted now. If the issue persists, please call the Claims Center to file over the phone and to speak to a representative for further instructions.

  9. Why do I have to look for work on the Wisconsin job center in order to file unemployment. I’ve got a full time job already. My job is shut down for a week and 2 days so they can make repairs to the plant. It’s mandatory every year they do this. I shouldn’t have to look for work when I have a full time job already.

    • It may be a requirement. However, there can be an exception.

Please call the Claims Center for further information.

  10. I submitted my weekly claim and was given a number to call for I attended a mandatory meeting and was thus exempt from the 4 work searches. I mistakenly did not write down the number and now my payment is on hold. Could I please have the number, thank you.

  11. How do u change your banking info on here 2 days I’ve been trying can’t talk to any one can some one help me please

  12. The fax number (608) 232-0940 has been busy for the last 11 days that I’ve tried faxing what was requested of me. Meanwhile, I cannot receive benefits. Is there a way I can successfully fax?

    • I suggest that you speak to the Unemployment Office to check about faxing issues. Meantime, you should also be able to send the document(s) via email or upload them online.

      • How is it possible to upload documents online or an email address that documents can be emailed to in hopes of reaching the unemployment office more quickly and without the fee for faxing something somewhere. I cannot locate a single place that offers faxes for free and I don’t have the $ to fax anything without getting this documentation there by tomorrow when they open so that they will even complete the adjudication review in hopes of getting my benefits in time; it has been nearly two months since I was last employed and my case has been in review for a solid month already!

        • Heather,

I can understand the ordeal. If you’re facing issues transmitting the documents, please call the Claims Center for assistance.

  13. I am wondering if I would qualify for unemployment if my employer says that they want me to resign in lieu of being terminated.

    • Depends on the exact reason for separation from the job.

If it’s anything but voluntary (such as behaviour, performance), you can claim UI benefits.

  14. Can I qualify for unemployment since I quit a job that i worked for 3 weeks through a temp service I could do and felt comfertble doing for permant new job that has a lot of dangers associated with it that I was not told about in the 2 interviews I had. The only reason I excepted the job is I was told I’d be working with a microscope in a lab which I do not even do and I was told I’d work 12 hour shifts at night 2 days on 2 days off then 3 days on 3 days off now my employer is telling me I will work 5 days a week 8 hour shifts with a 35 minute commute each way. I only accepted the new job because of the schedule and the duties they discribed during my 2 interview and when I was told they wanted to hire me. I never agreed to work with dangerous chemicals or this schedule? They can not even provide me the correct size protect rubber boots for handling these chemicals they don’t offer wide size boots and want me to wear ones that are too big or too tight. I was never told I had to climb heights or deal with dangerous chemicals . I was told I’d be working in a lab with a microscope I’ve never even seen a microscope at this job. I have a weight restriction and can not just go accept any other temp service job and the place I was working for won’t take me back since I left for a new job. This is completely unfair I never would have agreed to work with dangerous chemicals and I’m afraid if I quit I will now have no job or pay check?

    • Well, you can be eligible to draw Unemployment Insurance if you quit due to hostile work environment.

You’re not expected to work in dangerous work conditions. If there is a dispute from your employer during processing of the claim, please provide supporting documents.

    • In addition to my post if I do even qualify for unemployment my benifit rate would calculate out to about 71 dollars a week I was making 480 at the job I quit for this new job and only have worked this quarter not 2 consecutive quarters would I even qualify.

  15. I have been claiming for 4 weeks now and it has been pending the whole time I have tried to call but can not get a real person. what good does a claim specialist phone number do if there isn’t an option for a real person.

  16. WHERE IS MY MONEY. I have been filing claims on line sense 10/2015. I am told I am eligible. Wisconsin Unemployment states, that I am owed $3000. dollars, in the benefit summery. I have not received a penny. WHERE IS MY MONEY?? I was reamed good at work. Now I am victimized by the Wisconsin Unemployment System. Where I call. I get through, then they hang up on me..

    • I can understand your frustration. We’re not associated with the labor authorities in your state.

Please call the claims center for further information.

  17. My position has been replaced after return from surgery (only out for 2 1/2 weeks) I was working 38.25 hours a week and have now been reduced to 13 hours per week. I have found a new job that is part time and approximately 24 hours a week with a rotating schedule. It will be full time at end of January. Can I quit the job with 13 hours and work the job with 24 and still be eligible for unemployment benefits?

    • You do not have many options pertaining to this.

Please check with the unemployment office in your state by calling them and apply accordingly.

  18. i work a seasonal job. have for the last 18 yrs. we have winters off and have collected unemployment with no problems till this yr. why are we required to do 4 job searches every week now? i dont want another job and if we deny 1 of the jobs we sent a resume into we get denied UP. you realize how many employees and employers this is gonna mess with? what phone # can i call to ask questions about this?

    • We can understand your concern. Please note we’re not associated with the unemployment office in your state.

Please redirect your queries to the authorities. The phone numbers are available on top of this page.

    • Please provide them the phone numbers given on the official site.

We are a private company and not associated with the labor authorities in your state.

  19. I have an opportunity for accept a “separation agreement.” Does this agreement still allow me to claim unemployment benefits?

    • Depends. Please check with your employer if this agreement would hinder you eligibility to claim unemployment benefits.

  20. my job does not pay for maternity leave. do i qualify for unemployment? or is there another way to get financial help for those few weeks?

    • I am afraid Mat leave time does not qualify. Please research more on other benefits that may be available in your state.

  25. Ive tried for 3 weeks to get though to finish my unemployment is there a different way to finish instead of calling and getting nowheres on the phone

    • This is ridiculous! I have called about 30-40 times per week for almost 3 weeks and can not get through. The system says the same thing everytime…They are experiencing high call volume and they will try to transfer me. Once I get transferred, it says that they have reached the maximum amount of people on hold and hangs up on me. I don’t even have a choice to sit on the line and wait if I wanted. I read an article in the newspaper that they are working overtime but if you call anywhere close to closing time you can’t even try to get transferred to a claims specialist. It just says they are closed. I called at 3:50 and they close at 4:30 and I wasn’t even allowed to get transferred. It is EXTREMELY frustrating and something needs to be done! Hire some of these thousands of people that are unemployed if you are that short-staffed. This whole experience is so irritating & it is absolutely unfair!!! No business could be or should be ran like this. Oh, and another great quote from the recorded message is that if you are having difficulty getting through to a claim specialist, please call back. Oh, thanks, that works wonders!!!!!!

      • It is definitely frustrating. Please note that we are not a govt. organisation.Perhaps, you can raise a grievance with the governor’s office on the way labor department in WI functions.

  26. where in Milwaukee wi can I file my unemployment claim and also verify what I have been doing on the internet is being registered

    • You must immediately contact the claims center by phone and make them aware of the situation. They must not take weeks to process paperwork and disburse payment.

  27. I cant seem to get in contact with a claims specialist. Its been 2weeks. I call everyday atleast 5 times a day and still can’t get through. What should I do? Can someone please call me. 4146100697

  28. YOUR PHONE SYSTEM IS SO STUPID, I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR ALMOST 2 WEEKS NOW BECAUSE OF A QUESTION THE SYSTEM HAD FOR ME, AND SAID I HAD TO TALK TO A SPECIALIST, EVERYTIME I CALL THE SYSTEM IT SAYS WE HAVE REACHED THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF CALLS WE CAN PLACE ON HOLD, THEN SAYS GOODBYE AND HANGS UP!!!!!! I NEED MY UC BENEFITS, THIS IS REDICULOUS, DO I HAVE TO CALL THE GOVERNOR TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS, SINCE NO ONE CAN BE REACHED.

  29. how come you cant talk to an adjudicator? I faxed a paper in because another state , which I now live, said I wasn’t registered with them and I was so they gave me a paper saying I was indeed registered, I just need it corrected, why do I have to wait with no check , when they can just correct it

Please help me locate a WI DEPT OF WORK FORCE address. The retired uncle and aunt that I live with are lazy religious freaks. After 3 1/2 years of paying rent and half bills I must create a good resume. PLEASE REPLY a.s.a.p.

  31. My employer (a local hospital)has told me it is mandatory that I get a flu shot by Nov 1 or I will not be employed by them. My position is a clerical position and has been for the past 25 years I have no immediate contact with patients. If I refuse to get the flu shot, can I collect unemployment ?

    • This is not the unemployment office. Anything here is an “opinion” though we strive for accuracy. Generally if you do not follow company policy you suffer the consequences. However, unemployment may decide you had a right to refuse. You may try “pleading your case” with your employer first in hopes of maintaining a good working relationship. Requiring a person to undergo an “invasive” procedure to maintain employment is something you could research.

  32. I filled 2 weeks ago and am still waiting for follow up. I have had no income since 8-9 and my husband just launched a franchise. He also is waiting to hear whether he can claim unemployment for the weeks his earnings have been less than $300. We appreciate some information ASAP as we have 2 children at home.

    • This is not the unemployment office. Please check the website for your state’s unemployment – they may provide alternate contact methods if you are having trouble reaching by phone. If you fax anything to them be sure to include your name, phone number, and social security # on every page.

        • Check the unemployment website and see if there are alternate contact methods available. If you were referred to a job center, you might be able to use their fax machine.

  33. I have filed for 5 weeks now and am waiting for a response that I should of had at 21 days. I have tried to call every day all day long and every time it says call volume high and hangs up on me. When I try to find a local office it only gives me P.O. boxes. I have been out of work since Jan 2013 and now have been looking for work and have no income…I need an answer of what is going on, or I will look into an attorney to get this issue resolved.

  34. My unemployment was denied so I appealed the decision. The decision was reversed and I was told to keep claiming weekly. When I call to claim it tells me that I don’t have any benefits to claim at this time and to contact a claim specialist. When I try to call the specialist it tells me due to a high volume of calls at this time we are ending this call. Everytime I call a specialist it gives me that message and disconnects me. I’ve tried looking up an address for an office for unemployment near me but all it gives me is a po box number. My family and I are getting sick of this cat and mouse game cause we’re on the verge of eviction.

  35. I have waited 7 weeks now for an answer to my eligibility and have not hear anything back yet, I called s claims specialist and was told to contact the adjudicator handling my case, they told me it should of been already processed and the results allowed benefits but I still hear nothing from them, how can I get my benefits released.

    • Hi Jordan,

I think you are talking about filing the claim. Since you are telling that you are eligible to receive benefits, have you started your weekly claims? You need to claim benefits each week you are unemployed and there are separate requirements for the same. Please check on this. Also, you might have received a different debit / cash card where you receive your benefits if you have not provided your account details while filing.
If you have carried out this procedure, why not visit a nearest unemployment office and check what is holding back your benefits?

  36. I have filed for 4 weeks and still no answer, I was told two weeks, then called again two weeks ago and told to wait two more weeks,Iam done if I can’t get a response from you, I am done, I will get a lawyer and go after the state. This is BS.

    • Hi Rick,

Have you tried visiting a benefit center and get a one-to-one support from a claims specialist to know why your benefits are delayed.
Please note that, there is a waiting period of 1 week each benefit year during which you will receive no pay and this may extend if your document verification is still in progress. This certainly does not explain why you received no pay for straight 4 weeks though. Visit the office in person before you move on to the lawyer.
